What are the components and tools in the Graphpad Prism?

By Avishek Majumder on November 21, 2018

In the previous article, the main interface of the GraphPad Grasoftware was discussed, along with the pros and cons of every component. In this article, a random table is chosen and the tools and the statistics allowed by the software is discussed.

Selecting a data table in GraphPad

In order to show the interface and the tools of the software, a “Column” type of table and graph was chosen, from which, frequency statistics were chosen from the tutorial data.

  1. In the pop-up box of software, select the Columns<Tutorial data<Frequency and Histogram and click create

Selection of table (GraphPad Software Inc, 2012)
  2. Now, the GraphPad will open with tools and the data sheet with an already set tutorial data. (the data can be manipulated and data from the case in hand can be put)

Defining the interface from the selection of model

There are various functions of the tools in the GraphPad prism which here is defined. The tools and the components had been divided into 16 parts and each is demonstrated.

There are various functions of the tools in the GraphPad prism which here is defined. The tools and the components had been divided into 16 parts and each is demonstrated.

  1. Part 1 in image 3 represents the set of tools that can be used for various functions like exporting an excel sheet, inserting graphs and tables, highlighting sheets and cells and other simpler functions. The image below will provide a better description of the
  2. The components from 2 to 9 in image 3 are also toolbar but they are shortcuts to a quick performance of statistical and graphical analysis. Only after imputing the data into the datasheet these functions are applicable. Every tool has its unique function and is used according to the requirements of the data or analysis. A similar toolbar is also found in parallel to the upper toolbar which is the 16th component. The toolbars consist of functions ranging from importing data to graphical analysis and changing the datasheet to a quick viewing of results conducted
  3. The 10th component in image 3, is the recording sheet that contains linked datasheets, analyses conducted and their results. However, if any of the data or the analysis is to be deleted, simply point the mouse on the respective file in the list and right click and then delete. In some cases, a pop-up box is showed when more than one page of results is present, and if such appears then select the page that is to be deleted and click “ok”
  4. 11th, 12th and 13th component shows the area of datasheet where the data is to be presented. The headings are represented in columns according to the table and graph selected from the main tool pop-up box. The data is to be presented according to the predetermined datasheet styles and datasheets change for every type of model chosen. Hence it is very important that the analysis to be conducted and the graphs required as a resultant is to be predefined before choosing the models of table and graph
  5. The 14th part is although of not much importance but when selecting a tutorial table, the importance and definitions of the particular datasheet is presented and can be minimized while performing tests
  6. The last part in image 3 are 15th and 16th where the tools are used to either hide the toolbars or show gallery and also represents the second toolbar as mentioned in point 2

Quick note: All the tools in the software has specific functions and is used for different statistical and graphical analysis. Moreover, rolling the mouse over the tool shows the name of the function and hence can be used in the appropriate statistics.
