Research has shown that ethical leadership helps promote startups sustainable performance by contributing to the following main factors:
In recent years, the number of startups facing closure has risen steadily across the globe. Notable examples include WeWork and Byju’s. Many of these failures have been linked to “inadequacies of its founders”. Taking cognisance of this growing problem, this study seeks to explore the importance of ethical leadership in ensuring business continuity and sustainability. We conduct interviews of 10 startup owners whose ventures have been in operations for five continuous years in order to identify the key aspects of leadership which have placed a role in their survival and/or growth. Emphasis will be drawn on the constituents and importance of ethical leadership.
This study analyzes the effectiveness of financial inclusion initiatives on the socio-economic status of marginalized populations across ten Indian states. Financial inclusion is crucial for socio-economic development, particularly in developing countries like India, where access to financial services for low-income groups is limited.
Over the past two decades, various governmental schemes, such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Stand Up India, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, have aimed to enhance financial literacy, encourage savings, and improve access to financial services for marginalized communities. However, challenges such as financial illiteracy, limited access to banking, and social barriers persist. This study employs a survey approach to assess the impact of these schemes on the financial, social, and individual empowerment of marginalized people, identifying both successes and ongoing challenges. The study will propose interventions to enhance the effectiveness of these schemes in empowering marginalized populations.
Sustainable entrepreneurship and effective corporate governance are integral to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12, which focuses on ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns. The Indian logistics sector is a key driver of economic development, encompassing transportation, warehousing, and supply chain management services. As the sector expands, there is a growing emphasis on integrating sustainability into business practices. This involves not only managing environmental impact but also ensuring ethical governance, employee welfare, and responsible resource use. Despite the growing focus on sustainability, there is often a lack of integrated analysis that evaluates corporate governance and sustainable practices holistically. This case study aims to fill this gap by assessing how logistics companies in India adhere to principles of ethical governance, sustainability, employee well-being, human rights, and environmental protection.
The primary objective of this module, "Sustainable Entrepreneurship Through Improved Corporate Governance in India," is to utilize Power BI and DAX-based modeling to evaluate the logistics sector's performance against key principles of corporate governance related to SDG 12. By analyzing various indicators and visualizing the results, the study aims to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for better alignment with sustainable entrepreneurship goals. This case study uses data from Business Sustainability and Responsibility (BSBR) reports of logistics companies in India. The dataset includes detailed information on governance practices, sustainability investments, employee well-being, human rights practices, and environmental impact metrics.
